External Archiving
Starting with Release 23.R3 (11.52), customers have the option of archiving the documents from all of their account’s completed transactions in the vaults of Arkhineo. Arkhineo is an external block-chain service for long-term document storage. Customers can choose to store their signed documents for 10 or 20 years.
To enable this feature, please contact our Support Team.
This feature is available only in the European instance of OneSpan Sign.
Enabling External Archiving for your account activates the following sequence of events:
-
When a transaction enters the state COMPLETED: (1) the archiving process is automatically launched; (2) the transaction then enters the state ARCHIVAL_PENDING (this state shows as Archiving in the New User Experience).
-
As part of the block-chain storage process, a proof-of-storage file with a zip hash of the signed document is created and returned to OneSpan Sign. This process can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours. While awaiting this file, the transaction is in the state ARCHIVAL_VALIDATING (this state still shows as Archiving in the New User Experience).
-
If an issue arises during archiving, the transaction enters the state ARCHIVAL_INTERVENTION_REQUIRED (this state shows as Archiving Error in the New User Experience).
-
A transaction enters the state ARCHIVAL_COMPLETED once one of the following occurs: (1) the transaction has been successfully archived; (2) the transaction has been in the state ARCHIVAL_INTERVENTION_REQUIRED for more than 8 days.
If you receive an email with this status, contact our Support Team to resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved within 8 days: (1) the transaction’s archival process automatically ends; (2) the transaction enters the state ARCHIVAL_COMPLETED.
You cannot use the New User Experience or the API to delete transactions in any of the following states: (1) ARCHIVAL_PENDING; (2) ARCHIVAL_VALIDATING; (3) ARCHIVAL_INTERVENTION_REQUIRED. If you want to delete transactions in these states, you must contact our Support Team.
