Installing OneSpan Authentication Server for ODBC deployments (advanced installation)

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you successfully completed and verified the required pre-installation tasks and settings (see Pre-installation tasks and considerations), in particular that:
    • You are logged on with a user account with sufficient administrative privileges on the machine to run the installation.

Installing OneSpan Authentication Server (ODBC deployment)

To install OneSpan Authentication Server (advanced installation, with ODBC data store)

  1. Insert the OneSpan Authentication Server product CD and select Install OneSpan Authentication Server 3.26 from the CD start menu to launch the setup program.

If the CD start menu does not appear automatically, you might have the AutoPlay feature for your CD/DVD-ROM deactivated. In this case, you can start the CD start menu manually by launching autorun.exe in the CD main directory.

On some versions of Windows, the application requires an administrative logon to the OneSpan Authentication Server host. Therefore you may be prompted to do one of the following:

    • Confirm that the application should be run as an administrator.
    • Enter valid administrator credentials for the OneSpan Authentication Server host.

The purpose of either prompt is to elevate your privileges to those required by the application you are attempting to run. If you cannot elevate your privileges, the application will run in a non-elevated state, which will likely result in unexpected behavior.

  2. In the Installation Type page, select Advanced Installation, and click Next.

    The Select Components page appears.

  3. Click OneSpan Authentication Server 3.26 to launch the OneSpan Authentication Server Setup.

    1. Click Next to begin.

    2. If required, read the OneSpan license agreement, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.
    3. Select the features that you want to install by clicking the icons in the window.

To change the installation location of OneSpan Authentication Server 3.26 click Browse.

To reset your choices to the default settings, click Reset.

      Click Next to continue.

    4. Click Install to start the installation.

The selected features are being installed.

Click Finish to complete the OneSpan Authentication Server Setup and return to the Select Components page.

Additional tasks

If required, install the following components from the Select Components page (with default settings):

  • Net-SNMP
  • Embedded MariaDB:

If required, specify whether to encrypt the embedded MariaDB database and database connections.

If you want to use encryption for the data store and all connections to the embedded database, click Yes in the confirmation dialog. Click No to leave it unencrypted.

Once you decide to use (or not use) encryption for the embedded database and all database connections, encryption will remain permanently enabled (or disabled). You cannot change this setting at a later time!

If you are already using an encrypted database, specify whether to overwrite existing certificates with new certificates. Click Yes if you are using certificates generated via the Configuration Wizard during or after OneSpan Authentication Server installation. If you are using commercial certificates, you can click No.

For more information, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Administrator Guide.
