Triggering e-mail upon change of status of a custom object

Hi, everyone, We're starting a project to integrate eSignlive into the salesforce org of a customer in my company. While checking the documentation, we've seen that this specific part is pretty useful to us: http://docs.esignlive.com/content/e_classic_application_user_s_guide/signers/receiving_esignlive_packages.htm?Highlight=tablet%20desktop#Mobile2 It comprises more or less what we'd like to have at a point of our process: an e-mail with a link to sign the document and take it back to salesforce. However, at least two doubts are arising before we decide how to tackle this: 1- Is it actually possible to trigger the submission of that e-mail upon the change of status of a custom object? If that's the case, some info would be useful, since in the link I shared I can't really find this and I'm not sure where to find it (a link would suffice :) ) 2- In the link I shared, apparently, two e-mails are requested if we prefer the approach of "drawing on screen" signature (one initial e-mail to see the documents and another one when the user decides to sign). Can't this be merged in order to avoid the second e-mail? Like, for example, making the button to sign take the user to the signing page directly, without needing that second e-mail. Thanks in advance and sorry if this isn't the right forum to post this.

For #1, can you explain more? Are you talking about the change of status of a custom object in Salesforce? And you're trying to create a custom integration since you can't do what your'e wanting with the out-of-the-box connector? For #2, the second email is only necessary if the ceremony is opened on a computer and the user chooses to sign on their mobile device. The signature pad will be opened on the PC or whatever original device. The second email would only be used if you had filled out a form using the PC and wanted to use your mobile device to sign and not have to start over.

Hi, Michael, Thanks for your reply. About #1: Yes, what we'd like is that, when a specific custom object in Salesforce is changing its status, an e-mail to sign a document will automatically be sent. Is there a straightforward way to do this wit heSignlive? We're assuming it can be done, but I'd like to find the specific part of the documentation where this is explained. Regarding #2, according to what you said, if the user were to open the original e-mail from a mobile device, then he would be able to sign from the same device without the need of a second e-mail?

Okay, so for #1, you would just create a new eSignLive transaction when the object changes. I'm assuming some event is triggered where you could tie in your eSignLive code. Upon creating and sending the eSignLive transaction, the email to the recipient of the package would automatically be sent by eSignLive (to the email you specify for your signer). Are you planning to use the REST API or the APEX SDK? On #2, this is correct. The second email only happens if your REQUIRE mobile capture and the user doesn't open on a mobile device OR if you enable mobile capture and the user opens on a PC and decides they want to sign on their mobile device. Signing on a single device from one email is definitely possible. There is also "click to sign" which doesn't even require the signature pad. Hope this helps.

Hi, Michael, Thanks for your thorough reply, Point #2 is pretty clear now :) Regarding #1, we still have some doubts: - Based on your explanation, can we assume that creating a transaction means creating a record in an object (whose fields would be the data we need, such as the e-mail address) and, after its creation, the e-mail will be sent by eSignlive (and therefore staying related to this record so that, upon final signing, the required data will get back automatically)? Or would we need to perform any other actions? - If eSignlive is (hopefully) sending the e-mail automatically... why are you asking about REST API and APEX SDK? Thanks and sorry if I wasn't 100% clear in my initial post :)

I asked about REST/APEX since you posted in the APEX SDK forum ;) Also because I had asked if you were creating your own connector. I didn't know exactly what you meant by "change of status of custom object". If you create a transaction in eSignLive, eSignLive will automatically notify the signers. If that was all the question was, then, my apologies for misunderstanding. That will definitely happen automatically. That is the standard level of authentication that we use. If we're still at a disconnect, email me at [email protected] and we can set up a call. :) Have a great weekend.
