Event Notification for email blocked

0 votes

It seems that there is no event notification for when an email is blocked. Say an email is used multiple times for a signer and that email bounces. Eventually it gets caught by OneSpan and is now "blocked" if that email is again used for a signer.

We still need to be notified that the e-signature invitation could not be sent, but the event notification for email bounced does not cover email blocked as well. Also, if i try getting the package, there does not seem to be a status or anything tied to the  package indicating "email bounced" or "email blocked".

Please advise if this is a feature and is there a way to enable the functionality I described above?

thanks,

Hi FInky,

Unfortunately, for the time being, OneSpan Sign doesn't send event notification once an email address has been blacklisted in OneSpan Sign - email blacklist doesn't count as the email bounce event. After few undeliverable attempts and the email will be added to an environment wide email blacklist. And if the email turned out to be an valid address, it can be removed from the blacklist on a request basis.

Back to the topic, did your sender receive a "email.blacklisted" notification like below when the email is blocked by OSS? Although you can't fully integrated this scenario with callback notification, this email still can notify the sender to some extent.

Thank you for the info and confirmation.

Yes, our sender is receiving the email blacklisted notification. We have just had users express concerns if that someone else could attempt to use a blacklisted email a second time and would be not be aware that their "Sent" transaction was never actually sent at all.

Also in a system to system integration, The "sender" is often a shared sender, so the specific user may not see the email notification.

Do you know if there a status on a transaction or on a signer that could be queried to see if a transaction was not actually "Sent"?

Hi FInky,

Just confirmed with support team that "email.blacklist" is part of the transaction email trace in backoffice, but this bit of information is only visible to support team and I temporary didn't find an API to pull this data.

On the other hand, I saw there's already an Enhancement Request asking for adding the email blacklist as a separate callback event, I can add your organization's name to the requesting list.
