Copy Template Tool Not Copying

0 votes

Hi,

I am trying to use the OSS - Template and Layout Copy Tool to copy a template from my Sandbox test account to our Production account.  I enter the Source/Destination API keys and environments and hit Test Connection.  I am informed that all API keys are valid.

I then select Option 2 (copy under the target account owner) and Prepare Accounts.  I select Yes to copy templates, select the template to copy and hit Copy Templates.  A popup informs me that it successfully copied 1 template, however the template never shows up in the production environment.  This template did not previously exist in the production environment.

I have tried this several times, with different templates, with no luck.

Do you know what might be happening here?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear that! Because the tool has informed that it successfully copied the template, it might be worth a double check if the production API Key holder is exactly the account you are logging in - the copied template will only appear under the account owner's "TEMPLATE" tab, not senders under this account.

Hi,

I did check the API key and it is the one associated with my account.  I tried things using the account owner's API key and everything worked ok.  It just didn't with my API key.

If a template with the same name already exists under the account owner, could this cause an issue copying it into my account?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

I see, in that case, please choose the Option 3 before the copy. I understand it might be confusing through descriptions, a diagram might explain itself better:

Because you used to choose Option2, that's why templates will only appear under the target owner's "TEMPLATE" tab.

And to answer your question:
(1) Templates with the same names but under different senders shouldn't cause problem. But still, if copying to the target owner wasn't expected, please remove those templates

(2) If copying templates to a sender who already have templates with the same names, the previous templates will be overridden by the new ones since template name is unique for an individual sender. If you are encountering this scenario in real practice, I would suggest you either to delete or rename the old ones first, to avoid this override scenario.
