Requesting a Virtual Mobile Authenticator OTP: User perspective
There are three ways a user can request a OTP to be delivered with either a primary or backup Virtual Mobile Authenticator:
2-step logon
Two logon prompts are used to provide an easy-to-use logon interface for users with Virtual Mobile Authenticator. The first prompt is used to request an OTP, and the second one prompts for the received OTP. This can be used with applications, which support 2-step logons, e.g. RADIUS with support for Challenge/Response.
Two consecutive 1-step logons
The user must attempt two logons, the first of which will fail, but will initiate the sending of an OTP to the user. This is used when the 2-step logon process is not supported, e.g. RADIUS without support for Challenge/Response or Web HTTP basic authentication.
OTP request site
Alternatively, users can go to the Virtual Mobile Authenticator OTP Request Website when they need to request an OTP. Then they logon normally at the usual logon screen. This method is preferable if a more user-friendly option than the previous ones is needed.
