Software authenticator reactivation

Sometimes software authenticators will have to be reactivated. This may occur rarely for Mobile Authenticator Studio, e.g. when the user buys a new mobile phone.

Reactivation is done in the same way as the initial activation, except for the user account will already exist with a capable authenticator assigned. The registration process uses the assigned authenticator to generate the activation code.

The following limits can be enabled via the OneSpan Authentication Server Configuration Utility:

  • Activation Limit. This limits the number of activations that can be performed on one software authenticator.
  • Minimum Interval. This sets the minimum time interval between each reactivation.

The activation limits apply to all activation attempts. If an activation fails in the second stage this will still count as an activation, and will count against the activation limits.
