Creating Approvals with Text Anchors

0 votes
Hi Team, We are trying to create the Approvals using REST API. This works without any issues when we don't use the text anchors. However, when we use text anchors, we don't get the expected results i.e. the approval fields are created taking the field attributes in to consideration, ignoring the extractAnchor values. We saw that "Warning: Text anchor extraction cannot be used in this API call." when creating the approvals. So, we tried using the "Create a new field related to an existing approval" functionality where the URL is /packages/{packageId}/documents/{documentId}/approvals/{approvalId}/fields/{fieldId}. However, this gives the weird "Unhandled Server Error". Also, we saw the post by Haris on using the text anchors when creating the package @ https://www.esignlive.com/blog/esignlive-how-to-using-text-anchors/ However, we need the creation of approval after the Package and documents are created. Please help us in creating the approvals with the text anchors once the package and documents are created. Thanks, Karthik

Hey Karthik, Unfortunately, creating approvals and fields with text anchors can only be done during document upload. Is there a particular reason why you would want this in a separate call?

Thanks for the quick response, Haris. The only reason I am asking about this is to provide flexibility for the users to create the approvals at a later point of time, if they haven't done when creating the document or package. I just wanted to be sure that this feature is not currently available. Thanks once again, Karthik

I think this might be on a list of possible features for the future, but you could also request this enhancement in the "Enhancement Ideas" forum. The product managers follow that forum to view suggestions by eSignLive users. :) https://developer.esignlive.com/forums/forum/general/enhancement-ideas/
