Additional database configuration

Changing the default database passwords

If you are installing OneSpan Authentication Server using the embedded MariaDB database, some default database accounts are created. For security reasons, you should change the default passwords of those database accounts after the installation.

For more information, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Administrator Guide, Section "Embedded database > Administration accounts".

Configuring database connection settings

You may wish to increase the number of connections attempted to the database if:

  • The load on the database will be high, and
  • Changes to the connection settings will be efficient with the database and database driver in question.

Setting an idle timeout will allow connections which are no longer required to be closed as soon as possible, which may lower the load on the database server.

For more information, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Administrator Guide, Section "Database connection handling".

Additional databases

If you require additional databases for backup, failover, or load-balancing purposes, configure the OneSpan Authentication Server to use them.

For more information, refer to the OneSpan Authentication Server Product Guide and the OneSpan Authentication Server Administrator Guide.

Configuring permissions for Windows Group Check

If you plan to use the Windows Group Check feature, additional permissions need to be set up. You will need to add LocalSystem (“SYSTEM”) to either Administrators or the Account Operators Windows group on the server to allow OneSpan Authentication Server to run a group check.

To configure required permissions for Windows Group Check

  1. Right-click My Computer and select Manage to open the Computer Management console.
  2. Click Groups.
  3. Right-click Administrators or Account Operators.
  4. Click Add to Group.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Locations.
  7. Select the local machine and click OK.
  8. Enter SYSTEM in the object name memo.
  9. Click OK.
