PDF editing

Hi, One of our testers performed below use case: a) Signed the document using eSignLive b) The digital signatures were captured in the signature block c) Downloaded the signed copy from eSignLive & opened the PDF d) Clicked on the 'Fill & Sign' option appearing on the right of the document e) Tester was able to annotate the document. I read in the forums that what you get from the eSignLive download is a flattened copy of the PDF..they are akin to images. Tampering the PDF does not hold good from a legal standpoint. Is that true? Do you suggest any method to prevent the user from 'editing' after signature(s) have been applied?

Hi, We can't prevent users from editing PDFs after they have signed. However, if they do attempt to modify the content of the PDF after they have been signed, it will break the tamper seal and invalidate the document (see attachment). What I recommend is to download the documents and evidence summary when the package is completed and store them in your system. Hence, you will have a backup copy for any legal disputes.
