Overview of Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon

Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon (DAWL) is used for providing strong authentication for logons to Windows. Strong authentication is achieved by using a Digipass authenticator to generate a one-time password (OTP). An OTP is a password that can be used only once and only for a short-time period. When this period has elapsed, the OTP becomes invalid.

The OTP credentials are either validated directly by OneSpan Authentication Server (online authentication) or through offline authentication data generated by OneSpan Authentication Server (offline authentication). Whether Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon performs online or offline authentication depends on the availability of OneSpan Authentication Server and is completely transparent to the user.

Digipass Authentication for Windows Logon only supports Response-Only OTP. Other OTP types such as Challenge/Response are not supported.
