Group recipients failing when promoting templates across environments

We've recently adopted a group recipient into our templates and now need to migrate all our templates across our other sub-production environments, with a view to then do the same into production.
We've been using the template layout tool (java version - this one) to do this, and tried the same this time. The problem being that we are now getting an error upon execution.

We've got the same group set up in our other environments, although they do have a different email address - and we are aware these have different UIDs, which is what looks to be causing the problem. But how else would we go about promoting these templates with the group recipient? It seems a little strange to base this off of a UID, when the UID in another account/environment is going to be different.

I don't think the tool supports to migrate templates/layouts when there are group signers. A quick workaround could be to first switch the recipient to a placeholder signer, copy the template, then switch the recipient type back to group signer.
